Matthew and Camden

So, what do you think? I don’t think Camden and Matthew look as similar as some pictures of Kolby look like my other brother, Aaron, but I could definitely see a resemblance when Camden’s hair was done this way. Maybe it’s more just Camden’s cute little facial expressions that reminded me of Matthew, but either way they’re both pretty cute boys!

Photos and Video of Camden and Isaac Playing Together

These are some cute shots of Camden and Isaac playing together. Michael had the day off work and went to volunteer in Kolby and Eli’s preschool class, so after letting Camden and Isaac play in the bathtub, I got them dressed and combed their hair. Camden wanted his hair parted and combed over to the side like Isaac’s – which made him look so different than he looks when we do his hair normally. I could actually see a resemblance between Camden and my brother, Matthew, when he was little, with Camden’s hair combed this way. I grabbed the camera, and had fun following the boys around and shooting pictures and video until Daddy and big brothers got home. I think that some of these video clips are so cute: Camden “dancing” (running around the room in circles and bobbing his head), Isaac walking (he is even fasted and more sturdy on his feet now than when I took these), Camden and Isaac playing together, and Isaac “walking” on his knees.

The Senior Dinner Dance

The week before Michael’s graduation there was a Senior Dinner Dance. It was fun to get dressed up for something fancy and do my hair up nice (even though I had to borrow a curling iron because we had already packed mine). That night we had fun talking with friends and the dinner was very good. After dinner we danced a little. It was fun to dance and to see our friends dance too. Oh, our camera has been giving us problems and taking really dark pictures, did anyone happen to get any better pictures of the group than we did?

(Well, I did it – I stayed up to a ridiculous hour, but I got caught up with posting our photos. Now I just need to add the ones from this weekend with our family in town and Michael’s graduation, once I have a chance to go through those ones).

Kolby’s White Sweatshirt

A few weeks ago I picked up a few new summer shirts and pairs of shorts for Kolby, and they happened to have two cute hoody sweatshirts that were on sale for only $5, so I got those too, since they were such a good price and you can always use sweatshirts, whether it’s wintertime or on a cool summer night. Since Kolby wasn’t with me, I got several things, planning on returning some of the clothes that didn’t fit as well, and although I thought it was very cute, I thought I’d probably end up returning one of the sweatshirts because it was off white and it would get dirty. But when Kolby tried on the clothes and we decided which ones to return, I let him pick his favorite thing to keep, and it was the white sweatshirt. He loves it – he wore it for days and he even takes it off when he eats so he won’t get it dirty. He wanted me to take his picture, and then did all these cute poses without even being asked. Isn’t he adorable?

Oh, and most of the family said they thought I should cut Kolby’s hair when they came to visit, what do you think? (I know it needs to be trimmed, but I was letting it grow out before doing that, and I am kind of liking it a little long-ish).

Camden and Kolby

So, not many people seem to agree with me when I say that I think Camden looks like Kolby – it’s probably because their hair is so different. And I know their faces look different too, but I have always thought Camden has a look of Kolby about him. We were at the Botanical Gardens at “The Domes” yesterday and took lots of fun pictures, and afterwards I was looking at this one that I took of Camden, and it really reminded me of one I took of Kolby in almost exactly the same spot on a different trip to the Domes a little over a year ago.

Curls

For any of you who’s children have curly hair and you don’t know what to do with it, I finally figured it out. I love Camden’s hair, but if I don’t put any products in it, it just gets all fuzzy. So I’ve been putting gel in his hair for a while now, which makes it stay nice and curly, but the thing I didn’t like about the gel is that it made his curls kind of hard and crunchy. My friend, Rachel Roberts, who is a hairdresser, suggested mixing some conditioner with the gel. I tried it a while ago, and it works great. His hair is much softer, but the gel still keeps it from getting fuzzy. Plus, for some reason it seems like the gel-conditioner mixture holds the curls a lot longer than just gel alone. I just had to share this info for any of you who might be wondering what to do with your kid’s curly hair. Thanks, Rachel!

A New Look For Eli

I always pictured all of my boys eventually having the same cute haircut that Kolby has. My little brothers had that haircut when they were young, and Michael did too. Michael and I both liked it, and Kolby has always had that haircut since the first time I cut his hair when he was about 8 or 9 months old.

When Eli came along he didn’t have much hair. Kolby had pretty long hair for a newborn, and Eli’s fuzzy near-baldness was a big contrast. Eli was quite a bit older when I gave him his first haircut than Kolby was, and his hair was long enough in the back for that haircut, but not in the front yet. For quite a while Eli’s hair wasn’t long enough to cut across the front so that he could have the same haircut as Kolby, but I was determined, so I just waited and trimmed it a little here and there. Once Eli’s hair finally got long enough, I cut it to match Kolby’s, but it didn’t lay the same way. Kolby’s has always been pretty straight and thick, and it lays very nicely with that haircut. Eli has a little diagonal cowlick on the front right side of his forehead, which makes it part in that spot and I have often thought that he looked kind of like he was developing male-pattern baldness on that one side. And his hair has always been a little more wavy than Kolby’s – but not enough to look curly, just enough to look kind of messy most of the time. But I was still determined – my boys were all going to have the same, cute, matching haircut. So Eli’s hair would just have to grow in, and once it got thicker I hoped that it would lay straight over the cowlick.

Lately we have started to part Eli’s hair, get it all wet, and comb it over to one side, which keeps it from looking very messy. Once his combed hair dries, it usually lays pretty straight, but it always stays over to one side.

So, since Camden’s hair is proving to be really curly (even though when I cut it he lost many of his curls, they are gradually coming back as his hair gets longer – so I guess maybe he actually has really curly hair, and not just baby curls during the humidity of the summer).

So, since Kolby’s haircut would look pretty ridiculous on Camden’s head of curls, for the first time I have started to consider the idea that my boys may not all have matching haircuts. They might actually each need their own style, since they each have quite different hair-types. Since thinking about that, I have been wondering how Eli’s hair would look best. Today I was looking at a parenting magazine and noticed this picture of a little boy with a haircut that I think would look pretty cute on Eli.

What do you think? Actually, since I recently cut Camden’s hair and regretted it so much, I have been thinking about possibly growing all of the boys’ hair out at least a little longer than it is now. We’ll see. But I think for now I am going to go for it with Eli, at least, and see if we can eventually get to a haircut that resembles the one from the magazine.
