Campout, Stitches, Karate, and Palmyra

I know I haven’t really kept on top of the blog too well for a while – mostly because we were so busy selling our house, then moving, then moving in and getting settled here, then studying/taking the board exam, then dealing with car problems, then starting a new job, and now starting the boys at their new schools.  But I hadn’t realized just how behind I’d gotten: I just checked, and it’s been over three months since I was up to date with posting photos to the blog.

So, I thought I’d play a little catch up and try to cover the highlights of the Bradshaw family over the last few months, starting with Michael’s trip with the boys to the annual Father’s & Sons Campout that our church does.  (The boys asked me the other day, and were glad that the church here does a Father’s & Sons Campout too).  The boys had fun at the campout in May.  And Michael said it gets a little easier each year taking all 5 boys camping all by himself.

Unfortunately, Michael didn’t get as many photos as he usually does (I was sad that they didn’t get a shot of Michael with all 5 boys this year like they always do) because they went on a little hike near a stream and Isaac jumped from a small rock, fell, hit his head on a rock, and split it open, so they came home a couple hours earlier than planned so we could go to the hospital and Michael could stitch it up.

After:

It was the largest cut any of our boys has had so far (at least it was on his head where his hair will hopefully grow back in in that spot), but Michael got it all stitched up nicely.  And after a week he removed the stitches.  But Isaac is an active little guy, and just a few days later we were at the park . . .

Isaac and Courtland were being so cute at the playground, and Isaac was having a ball getting Brax to go down the slide with him.

Isaac had his hat on while he was playing, but a little while later he took it off and I noticed his head was bleeding.  I asked Isaac what happened, and he said it happened when he was going down the slide – the cut just popped back open.  So we went to the hospital where Michael was working, and he stitched him back up again.
The next day Isaac told me that he bumped his head against a wall, and the stitches popped open again.  Oh well.  No more stitches after that, but the cut popped open a couple more times before it finally healed.  And now it’s all better and the scar isn’t very noticeable at all unless you know where to look for it.  Nice to have a doctor in the family.  :)

In May we also celebrated Mother’s Day with breakfast in bed, some nice cards and pictures from the boys, a bracelet that Kolby made me, . . .

and three new, pretty dresses from Michael (here’s one of them).

And Kolby enjoyed a scout activity at the Ruder’s house where the boys participated in a ceremony to retire some worn out American flags.

We had fun on Memorial Day going to the parade with Mike and Mary Hollahan from church.

In June, when I took the boys one afternoon to Fairport’s Canal Days celebration, they each won some free trial karate classes at one of the booths.  All the boys got to go to karate for a week, and they really enjoyed it.  I think it’d be fun to let them do karate classes again someday.

And we had to fit in a Sunday afternoon visiting all the sites in Palmyra before we moved away.

I’ve got lots more updating to do, but this’ll have to do for now.  Goodnight.
