The Boys' Schools

After we made an offer on the house we went to the schools where the boys will be going. We got a recommendation for a good preschool where several other children from church will be attending in the fall too. The preschool is held in a church building in Fairport Village (although the school is not affiliated with the church, they just rent out the classrooms). We stopped by one day just to see the classes (they were on Spring Break when we were there) and the teacher of the 4-year-old class happened to be there and she told us all about the school and all the fun programs they will get to do. They have an outdoor playground for when the weather is warm and they also get to use the gym inside in the winter. This preschool has been in business for years and they told us that some of the parents of the current students went to the preschool when they were children. They do all sorts of fun things, including music practices, a Halloween parade, a Mother’s Day tea, and a production of Peter Rabbit that the kids put on in the springtime. We got Eli signed up to go on Tuesday and Thursday mornings starting this fall, and the preschool also has 3-year-old classes, so Camden can go there too in another year or so.

We also went to the school where Kolby will start kindergarten and got him all registered. It is a K-2 school and there are 6 morning and 6 afternoon kindergarten classes, each with 14 to 20 students. Because of the neighborhood we live in and the bus route, Kolby will be assigned to the afternoon kindergarten (which they told us usually has smaller class sizes than the morning classes). Kolby’s school is about a half mile from our house, and one of the walking trails near our house leads right out of the trees to the school, so we can walk over and let the kids play on the school playground too, so that will be fun. And the 3-5 grade school is right next door to the K-2 school, so that one will be nice and close too.
