So, the house that we picked out is in the town of Perinton (as I understand it, Fairport Village falls within the borders of the town of Perinton on the Erie Canal, and it seems like most people out there refer to the area where our house is as Fairport and we are in the Fairport school district). The house is just under 15 miles from the hospital where Michael will be working most of the time during his residency. According to the sign as you drive into town, Perinton is known as "Trail Town USA" and it is a two-time top 100 winner of "Best Places to Live in America" (in 2005 and 2008). There are a ton of cool old houses and buildings, and the canal runs through the middle of the town near the library, town hall, and not far from the church where Eli will be attending preschool. It is a beautiful place full of trees and we can't wait to get back out there when the leaves have all come back in on all the trees. We've been told that it will be so green there when we get back that we won't recognize it. Here are some photos I took of some houses and buildings in the town and the canal:
