Today Courtland was so excited to share his picture and the little story he wrote at school about one of our family's favorite hiking locations, Three Sisters Falls. The first time we went to Three Sisters was a little over a year ago, and since then we've gone 4 or 5 more times. One of the most recent times we went there was enough water flow and each of us slid down the lower falls -- I was so proud of the boys that they each gave it a try. (Actually, I'm proud that some of the boys' favorite hiking locations include places like this, where it's not only a fun destination, but there are definitely challenging aspects of the hike. But they're willing to go back and try it again & look forward to it). Of course, Three Sisters isn't a safe location in the heat of the summer, so we'll wait until it cools down in the winter before we can visit that one again. Here's what Courtland wrote:
"'Going to Three Sisters'
based on a true story
Three Sisters are three waterfalls. The first time I went there was a long time ago. On the way there we had to go down a really steep hill. Then we had to go down to a of rock, but luckily there was rope. Then we got to the waterfall. I slid down the first falls. All my brothers went down the waterfall. Finally we had to go back. I used the rope on the rock wall again. The hill was super hard. We had to use the rope up the really steep hill. For the drive home I actually fell asleep in the car. Then we arrived at home. They woke me up, and we ate dinner, got in our pajamas, and went to sleep. The end."
