'Articles of Faith' flashcards

I am the ‘Activity Days’ teacher at church for the girls ages 10 and 11, and one of the things the girls are encouraged to do is to learn the ‘Articles of Faith.’ These are 13 main points explaining what the members of our church believe in. Since memorizing things like that isn’t the easiest thing for me, I was trying to think of a creative way to help the girls learn the articles. There were lots of little games and puzzles and things like that about the Articles of Faith online, but I didn’t think that kind of thing would really help them memorize each article. So I found a couple different websites that gave examples of pictures that they used to help people remember the articles, and I borrowed from some of those ideas, and found other things on different websites to create some flashcards. I used clipart pictures so that the girls could color in the pictures, and then put the cards together with the picture on the front and the article on the back so that they could use them to learn the articles themselves, or possibly to quiz their friends on them if we are working on them in class. I also made an extra set for my boys, and Kolby likes to look through them in church on Sundays, and since we’ve been working on learning a different article each month for family night for a while now, he knows some of them and is starting to be able to read them too, so that’s kind of fun.

Oh, and when I was searching online for things about the Articles of Faith, I came across this quote by L. Tom Perry: “I reached the conclusion that if I studied the content of each of the Articles of Faith, I could explain and defend every gospel principle I might have the opportunity to expound to someone searching for the restored truth. I encourage each of you to study the Articles of Faith and the doctrines they teach. If you will use them as a guide to direct your studies of the Savior's doctrine, you will find yourselves prepared to declare your witness of the restored, true church of the Lord. You will be able to declare with conviction: ‘We believe these things.’”

I don’t know if anyone would want to use these flashcards or not, but if you do, you are welcome to them. I can’t take credit for the pictures – although I edited many of the images in Photoshop for my own purposes, I didn’t create any of the pictures. So, you are welcome to print them off if you want, but please only use them for personal use. Enjoy!
