Too Much To Do

This morning we ran to drop Eli off at preschool and then headed to the Wegmans grocery store in Penfield, where I planned to drop Kolby and Camden off to play in their kid’s area while getting some groceries, and then visions of the swine flu running through our entire family started to dance through my head and I thought better of dropping my kids off with other random children when I didn't need to (although who knows if they could get just as sick touching the shelves and shopping carts in the store), but we turned around and went to a different grocery store that is sometimes a little cheaper. We got all of our food, and after getting out of there we stopped at Blockbuster (haven’t been there in a while) and picked up a short movie to have as a backup plan in case things need to calm down a bit at Kolby’s birthday party this upcoming Friday (yes, I decided to be brave and invite just kids without their parents for a birthday party for the first time, and I’m thinking I’m a little crazy too since I let in and allowed Kolby to invite 15 of his closest friends from church, school, and the neighborhood – that will either be a lot of crazy fun or a terrible mistake, we’ll see). Anyways, we have this video that someone gave us of Wallace and Grommit, it’s some BBC clay-mation short movie by the same guy that made the Chicken Run movie, and Kolby thinks it’s so funny. I rented one of those – one that he hadn’t seen before so it will be interesting for him and his brothers, and they are pretty short little movies, so that will work well because I doubt the party will end up lasting long enough to eat cake and ice cream sandwiches (don’t have to scoop ice cream for 15 kids), open presents, play with Kolby’s new Lego sets, and watch a full-length movie.

Anyways, we did the grocery shopping, got the movie, picked Eli up from school, fed the boys lunch, swept off the front walk-way, brought in all the groceries, got Kolby on his school bus, took the other boys up for naps, cleaned up the bathroom while I was upstairs, came down and started putting the groceries away and noticed that the fridge really needed to be wiped down, so I cleaned out the fridge, put all the groceries away, and then I sat down thinking that after I tried to find a doctor for myself and Michael (I’m the only one in our family who hasn’t had a flu shot yet, and I figure it’d be a good thing to have a doctor in case either of us do happen to get sick), and trying to see if I could find a babysitter for Saturday night so Michael and I can both go to the stake conference meeting at church on Saturday night (but since I’ve waited this long I think there’s a pretty good chance all the babysitters may already be taken, we’ll see), then I was looking forward to maybe finally finding some time to get some old family photos, German letters, census records, etc. posted on the blog because I’ve recently made contact with a few descendants of my Spohr family ancestors, and I wanted to have a good way to share this information with them. I’ve been wanting to do this since I first contacted one of them almost 2 weeks ago, but haven’t yet been able to find the time to get it done. But when I sat down I remembered that today is election day – I guess I should be responsible and do some research on which people I want to vote for. Plus, Camden just called me and he had had an accident during naptime (and of course, I forgot to put on his pull-up for naps) – he’s actually doing really great at potty training lately and is almost always dry in the daytime, and is often dry at naptime and bedtime too, but I wasn’t lucky enough to have today be one of those days, so I got to go deal with that mess and get him back to bed. It’s now about half way through naptime, and I’m realizing that with the other things I need to get done today, I’ll probably have to wait another day to get that genealogy stuff done. Oh well. I’m off to do some exciting research on the local candidates. Happy Election Day!
