Candidate Decisions

Ok, I’ve decided that it’s incredibly difficult to look up info online to try to decide on who to vote for in these local elections. Besides the fact that I’ve been unable to find one nice official-looking website (produced by some unbiased group) that gives basic facts about each of the candidates, it’s really difficult for me to decide which candidate should have the job just by seeing a description of their experience, their education, who endorses them, and a quick bio. on their family. How do you choose a judge that you know nothing about? I mean, when you’re voting for President, you need to know what the candidates think about the issues that are meaningful to you, but if a judge is really fair then their own personal opinions won’t matter in the cases that they are judging, they will just do their best to judge cases according to the law. So, how do I pick who the county court judge should be. Part of me says, I’ve been looking on the internet for half an hour now and I haven’t found much helpful info at all, and now the boys are starting to wake up from their naps and I don’t have a lot to show for my “free time” today, so maybe I just shouldn’t vote at all since I don’t know who to vote for. On the other hand, I can’t complain when the local government does things that I don’t like if I’m not going to make an effort to put in my two cents by voting. Maybe I shouldn’t have waited until the afternoon of election day to start doing y research, but even if I had started earlier I don’t think I would have had much more luck finding good reliable information a week ago than today. While he was looking up information about the candidates last night, Michael jokingly said that we should call our friend, Spencer, who is a judge (and one of the nicest people you could meet) and ask him what he thinks about some of these candidates since he probably knows some of them, but I think I’d feel a little to weird asking someone else who I should vote for. I guess I’m stuck with searching for election websites and watching campaign add videos to see who seems like the best candidate (or who has the best advertising crew, is more like it). Well, I guess I do know one thing for sure – I know I sure don’t want to vote for that school commissioner candidate who keeps popping up on the local news for repeatedly swearing at her colleagues on camera and not acting apologetic for her behavior at all. Ok, I’ve narrowed it down – now I only have somewhere around 28 other candidates to decide on and I’ll be all set. Hhmph.
