After we got back from our trip we had a few days left of Michael’s vacation from work, so one thing that we got done was painting our bedroom. As you can see from the “before” picture, it was kind of a mint green color when we moved in. We used the same neutral tan color from the family room for our bedroom, and I think it’s a big improvement. Not only is it calm feeling and more classy looking than the pastel green color, but it matches with just about anything so it goes well with our bedding colors and will also hopefully appeal to buyers when we eventually sell this house. As you can see, we still have up the brown blinds that were in the bedroom when we moved in – my plan is to eventually move those blinds to Kolby’s, Camden’s, and Courtland’s room (I thought they would work well with a “Noah’s Ark” themed little boys’ room), and then put up some pretty curtains that my mom gave us in our bedroom (we just need to get some curtain rods before we can do that). And you can see our little black night stand – my plan is to sand it down a bit and paint it black (and maybe pick up a knob for the drawer that matches the ones we put on the dresser drawers), and then it will look quite cute, I think. And then there’s our beautiful dresser (minus the mirror). As you can see, we have all of our picture frames stacked on top of and beneath the dresser still – we keep waiting to get all the walls painted before hanging up all the pictures so we don’t have to take them all down again just to paint. Anyways, we’re getting there. We just used a Home Depot gift card that we had to pick up a gallon of the paint that is 50% darker than this neutral tan color – we are looking forward to finding some time to paint the kitchen area by the back door and the front entry hallway this color below the chair rail. I think that will make things look a lot more finished when we get that color in. Things are a little slower going than we had planned with getting this house painted, but we’ll get it done eventually. After we get this painting done, all we’ll have left is the living room, the upstairs hallway and bathroom, the study, the two boys’ bedrooms, and the basement (oh, and I guess we’ll be painting the wainscoting in the dining room too, once we eventually get that put up). That sounds like a lot to do, but we’ve gotten a lot done already too.
