Children's Museum

We got a membership to the Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, which is the 2nd largest children’s museum in the country. We went when Grandma and Aaron were here, and it was a lot of fun. From looking at the map, we probably only saw about 2/3 of the museum that day, so there is a lot to do there. I think my favorite part was probably the grocery store – the kids shopped for plastic food with child-sized shopping carts and then they got to ring up their groceries and print actual receipts with real cash registers. There is also a Sesame Street area, several different historical areas, a train, a carousel, a play boat and a play airplane, an area upstairs that is more like a conventional museum with displays of different kinds of toys, a science discovery area, an arcade (which I avoided), several large fish tanks, and more stuff that we didn’t even get to. And I really liked the idea that there were books displayed in every part of the museum and the kids can check the books out when they leave the museum and return them later at any library in the county. So that will be a really fun place to go – especially on the long winter days when we’ll need to find indoor activities to keep us busy. (Oh, and thanks, Aaron, for letting me use your camera while we were at the museum!)
