Little Dog

Yesterday morning Lijah borrowed someone's phone to call me from his dog walking job before school because he had found a small dog. He said he followed it for a while to see if it would go back home, but he picked it up when it started to head towards traffic. I came and picked him up and gave him a ride to school since that had delayed him a bit, and I took the little guy home with me.  I posted pictures on the neighborhood Facebook page, expecting someone to respond quickly since the little dog was well groomed and obviously taken care of. I introduced him to Harley & Berkley, who were really good around him, but the fact that he was about the same size as Berkley's head freaked the little guy out -- sometimes he seemed fine when they approached him, but other times he'd let out a high pitched little scream of a warning bark, which resulted in my dogs jumping 3 feet in the air and looking at me like, "What did I do?" But they got along ok. I didn't hear from anyone who knew his owner all day long, and in the afternoon I was getting ready to take him to the vet to see if they could scan him for a microchip when I got a call from his owner. She had just returned from work to find her gate open and her little dog, Bryson, missing. She was very grateful, and wanted to give Eli a reward, but we told her he was happy to help and didn't need to be rewarded for doing service. I told Michael it was a good thing the little guy went home before he got home, or he would have fallen in love with how cute he acted and wanted to keep him. :)
