D39Campout
So, I helped organize the overnight Campout event at the school this year. It took a lot of time and work to prep, and I swear I’m never being in charge of an overnight event for 900 people again in my life! And after doing this I’m feeling no regrets about giving myself permission to take a break from a lot of the school volunteering for quite a while now. But it did feel good that it all came together in the end without any really major issues (one food truck never showed up so the lines were longer than we’d hoped later in the evening, one woman stepped on a tent stake and cut her foot but fortunately Michael was there to look at it and she didn’t need stitches, and one person emailed me and complained quite a bit about people talking at night when she was trying to sleep {but what do you expect when you’re sleeping on a school field with 600 people, the majority of which are children?}), but nothing too terrible. I am SO glad to be done with it! And my sore feet are just about back to normal now that it’s been 4 days since the event — they were killing me after walking around with shoes that were rubbing my feet all day long Friday. And the good thing is that I think most people really enjoyed the event, especially the kids. I’m looking forward to going to it next year with my family and actually participating in the event activities with them. And now that that responsibility is done, I can get back to catching up on life and taking care of my kids - just in time for the last couple weeks of school. Woohoo, I’m so ready for summer!
