Happy 6th Birthday Lijah

Lijah's 6th birthday is tomorrow, so he had a birthday party yesterday afternoon. He wanted a Dr. Suess theme, so Steph decorated the cake with Horton the elephant. He had 8 friends along with his brothers. They played with the toys in the basement, ate ice cream sandwiches and cake, watched Horton Hears a Who, and opened presents. Lijah was so happy. Thanks to all the family that have sent birthday cards. He gets so excited to open them when they come.

Last night was a free date night at the church with babysitting included (from 12-18 year old young women). It was a game night. There were 4-5 tables with different board games - Mouse Trap, Boulderdash, Blockus, Scattergories, Settlers of Katan, and others, as well as lots of desserts. It was fun to play and talk with others from church. The kids had a great time with the young women too.

I think we might all be through with being sick (finally!). Steph was hit the worst, with a horrible cough, sore throat, and losing her voice. I was not feeling well earlier this week, and several of the boys have had intermittent fevers with minor sore throats over the past 2 weeks. Being stuck inside, due to cold winter weather, with 5 little boys with eternal runny noses, is a recipe for sickness.

Steph was in charge of a daddy-daughter activity with the 8-11 year old girls from church. She came up with several games that went along with a "Minute to Win It" theme, as well as some other big group games. She says it was a great success - some of the girls didn't even want to stop the games for dessert.

Kolby had an appointment with a pediatric urologist, as he has occasional accidents with daytime wetting that has gone on for some time. They gave some great advice of some things he can do to work on this, and he seems motivated since then.

We had a great dinner tonight with the sister missionaries. We cooked up a roast with potatoes and carrots and had a great time getting to know them. We are grateful for all the work that missionaries do and are happy that Steph's brother is serving as a missionary in Norther Utah and Idaho.
