Halloween Portraits and Kolby's "School Picture"

We picked up these pictures of the boys this week, and I think they turned out so cute! I was frustrated after the first time we went in to get the Halloween photos because the photographer needed a lot of direction – and not just, “This is how I want them to be posed,” but things like, “Can we please move the background because you can see off the edge of the background in every photo of the baby?” and “Every photo of Isaac has the top of his costume cut off, can you take some without cutting off Elmo’s head?” Then the other girl (who must have been in training) took absolutely forever checking us out, repeatedly asking us if we wanted pictures and extras that we told her we did not want while our kids acted up – we were there with 5 worn out kids for 2 hours and didn’t even end up ordering one of Courtland because they were all so bad of him, my goodness. But I called back and got a second appointment – and I made sure to get Ashley, the manager, who had taken our boys’ pictures before. I came back in and got several cute Halloween shots and several other cute shots of Courtland to choose from, and she ended up giving them to me for free. So, I just need to make sure that I ALWAYS make sure that Ashley is our photographer at this JC Penney, and we won’t have any problems in the future, because we have been pleased with her each time.

Anyways, although it was a hassle to have to go in twice, I was pleased with how the pictures all turned out in the end. We got Halloween photos of the boys – Courtland in the lion costume my mom made, and Isaac in the Elmo costume that she also made, Camden in the green dinosaur costume, Eli as big bird, and Kolby as a fireman. Kolby was so excited about the little plastic hatchet, fire extinguisher, and walkie talkie that came with his costume that he had to have them in the pictures. Even though I don’t usually like props in the photos, he just had the cutest expression, so we had to choose that one – and I also loved that it shows that he was wearing his rubber boots that he loves so much.

And then we got a “school picture” of Kolby – from now on our plan is to pay $4 to get a picture at JC Penney each September of each of the boys starting in kindergarten, rather than paying $30+ for school portraits. And the other one is just a cute shot of Courtland – I had a ‘buy one, get a free 8x10’ coupon, so when I went back to have his Halloween pictures redone, I got one Halloween shot and one in his normal clothes with that adorable hat (that I found at a garage sale this summer). What cuties!

(Oh, and sorry about the pictures – our scanner recently died on us, and I’ve been using the digital camera if I need to have a copy of the kids’ art work or some important document, but it doesn’t really work too well to get good copies of these kind of pictures. Maybe someday we’ll be able to get one of those scanner/printer/fax machines, but not anytime soon).
