A Fire in the Fireplace

So, Michael, Kolby, and I are sitting on the couch in front of our fireplace with our very first fire that Michael built for us. It’s a nice cool fall day, and we’re testing it out – hoping that it will heat up the house so that we might be able to use the fireplace for heating, at least partially, once it’s wintertime. But it’s nice to enjoy it today.

Isaac just woke up and had lunch – he fell asleep in the car on the way home from church this afternoon. And Eli, Camden, and Courtland are taking naps upstairs.

This week we kept quite busy with kindergarten, preschool, late nights at work, pediatrician’s appointments and flu shots, WIC appointments, finding some more kids’ clothes and winter boots, two friends’ birthday parties, taking the boys to JC Penny for “school pictures” for Kolby and Halloween photos of each boy in his costume, a quick visit to an alpaca farm on “National Alpaca Farm day” as a reward for the boys being good (mostly) while we were having their portraits taken, preparing a lesson for substitute teaching Kolby’s primary class again (this time we had 7 kids in the class, not just the 4 active boys from last week), clearing out the garage and getting a garage door opener for my car so we are ready to park the van in the garage as it starts to cool down a little, going to the general Relief Society broadcast last night, Michael and I both preparing talks that we gave in Sacrament meeting at church today, and taking care of 5 little boys.

And now as the fire is dying down, Michael is working on plans for a bench that we want to build with shoe cubbies in it and all the boys except Courtland are awake in the living room with us, listening to Kolby practice the piano. It’s nice to have a relaxing Sunday to just rest instead of trying to fit in as many things as possible, as we so often do on Saturdays.
