This is Eli’s “Smile Page” from preschool. They asked the parents to help the kids each decorate one page, front and back, to be included in a “Smile Book” that the kids will get to take turns taking home with them on the weekends. He was supposed to decorate it with family photos and pictures of his favorite things, and color a picture on it too. So I let him pick out the pictures and I wrote what he told me about each one. He said that his favorite color is red, his favorite food is fruit, his favorite book is the “I Spy” books, his favorite toy is his “blocks” (the large Duplo Legos), his favorite movie is Cinderella (and his favorite thing from the movie is the mice), he wanted to include not only a family picture but a picture of him and each of his brothers, and he was excited to add a picture of them on the swing set, and when I asked him what his favorite day was he didn’t say his birthday or a specific day of the week, he said “school days.” Then I asked what he wanted to color a picture of, and he said Joseph Smith. He had fun writing his name, coloring his picture, and coloring “rainbow colors” around the whole page. He was pretty proud of his pages when he was done. And he’s so excited to go to preschool again tomorrow.
