Thanks a lot, Eli!

So, the doorknob on the door to the study has a funny lock on it. It has a lock that requires a key, but you can’t get in from the outside if it is locked. The previous owners used the room as a study, so the only thing I can figure is that they locked the door with a key in order to keep people out of the office??? Anyways, I discovered today that we do not own a key that opens that lock. Kolby was reading to Eli in the study this morning while Camden was coloring, and I went in a laid Courtland on a blanket in there so he could listen to Kolby read. He enjoyed that, and they all played nicely for a while. Then Kolby and Camden came downstairs. When Eli came down, I went to get Courtland and Eli told me that he had locked the door from the inside before he closed it. So, I tried all the keys on the key ring that we found in a drawer when we moved in, but none of them worked. And a credit card wouldn’t open the door either. Luckily Courtland was mostly happy in there by himself, but he started to fuss. So, I ended up having to use the ladder to climb onto the roof of the garage and then walk across to the window of the study and climb in. (I’m sure any neighbors who happened to be watching were wondering what I was up to). Courtland was fine, which is more than I can say for one of the books he had gotten off a bottom shelf and started to suck on and crumple all the pages. I think we’d better get rid of that door knob so we don’t have to make anymore trips up on the roof. Yeah, thanks Eli!
