Showering Adventures

1 5-yr-old + 1 4-yr-old + 1 shower = 2 clean kids + 1 clean bathroom

I was pleased last week when I decided that Kolby was old enough to shower by himself and, after a couple time doing it with a little help from Mommy to turn the water to the right temperature and ration the shampoo, he was able to do the entire thing, complete with getting dressed and cleaning up the bathroom afterwards by himself with no help from me. So, when Kolby asked if he could take a shower this morning, Eli wanted to do it too. I decided to just let them do it and see how Eli would do – would he squirt the shampoo all over the tub and leave a mess of dirty clothes on the bathroom floor for me to pick up? But no, Kolby helped Eli wash his hair and then they dried off, picked out clean clothes, Kolby did his hair and Eli's hair with gel when they were done showering, and they put all the dirty clothes in the hamper, they even brushed their teeth and helped Camden and Isaac brush their teeth too (and Eli cleaned up the toothpaste that Camden dropped on the floor) before they left the bathroom. I think we’re going to have to let them show by themselves more often. This whole independence thing is pretty nice for Mommy!
