Kolby's Contribution

Today in church, there was a young man who will be leaving on a mission soon and he gave a talk in sacrament meeting. His talk was about record keeping and he mentioned that his parents had encouraged him to keep a personal journal from the time he was young. Since this blog is our family journal, I thought I’d let the boys contribute too. So, Kolby said that he wanted to help me write today.

Kolby wanted to say, “I miss my friends [Justin, Jeffrey, and Jessica Owens]. I want to tell them about New York. I like the Children’s Museum – I like all of the toys there. Since we moved here, we have painted our house a little. Our house has stairs. I have toys in the house. I have a bunk bed and Camden sleeps on the bottom part. My room’s going to be decorated by Noah and Eli’s room is going to be decorated by airplanes. Courtland sleeps in the crib in my room, and Isaac is on a bed in Eli’s room. I like my friends here.

I have a new piano teacher. Her name is Mary. At my first piano lesson I learned “Marching Song,” and “Rockin’ Tune,” and “My Robot,” and there is ‘robot talk’ at the end of that song. I practice them every day. I choose different songs sometimes when my piano teacher comes.

I have a back yard with a new swing set. And I have a trampoline, but we didn’t put it up yet. My swing set has two of the swings that you sit on, and I can swing on one of them really high. And it has a slide, and it has a swing that seven people can go on [???], and there’s a swing that four people can go on. I like to swing on all the swings, and there are lots of games we play on the swing set. One of them is called “Storm,” it’s the one that people come up the slide and up the ladder to save people from the pretend storm. And we play “Across,” where you go all the way across the swing set without touching the ground – if you touch the ground you have to start all over. I can go on the really top of the swing set too. And that’s all.

And I have fun at church every time. And I went to Joseph Smith’s wood house and his log house in Palmyra. They both have tables and they both have baskets of pinecones, and beds, and there’s food. One of them has eggs, and nuts, and mushrooms, and another has beans, and that’s all I can think of. Joseph Smith and his family lived there.

We went hiking. And I climbed the first waterfall that I saw. The waterfalls had rocks under them, and it wasn’t deep enough to slide down them. I went in a floaty thing in the water. That’s all.”

Kolby’s a pretty cute kid. The boys are really enjoying their new house and the fun things we get to do here in the summertime.

Well, the other day I started writing something to post with all the things I’ve been up to lately and photos of the little projects we’ve been working on, but I am still trying to get photos from my cell phone (it wasn’t working the other day, and I am still trying to figure out if I can recover the photos that I tried to send from the phone to my e-mail or not. We’ll see. But I’ll get that post up before too long.

Wow! You have been everywhere and done a lot of things in the past few years! 5 boys! And I love their hair. What brings you to NY? My hubby and I are here now too... but probably nowhere near you. Hope you don't mind if I stop in from time to time!
