Later on this week something happened that made me realize how old Kolby is getting now. We got a call one evening from Kolby's friend, Kaitlyn's, mom, asking if Kolby could come play with Kaitlyn. They live around the corner from us, and Kaitlyn is 6 years old, so Kari asked if I was ok with Kaitlyn coming to pick Kolby up -- Kari watched Kaitlyn from her house as she walked here, and then I watched Kolby and Kaitlyn as they walked back to their house. Kolby said he had a lot of fun playing with Kaitlyn. I told him what time he needed to come home, and he was home right on time. It was just so strange to me -- with Kolby being our oldest, it had never occurred to me to just invite his friend to come over to play. I have been so used to the idea of having the mom and all the siblings all come over (which can be harder to schedule sometimes), that we haven't really had many friends come over to play since we've moved here. I just never thought of just inviting the child over for a play date. This opened up a whole new realm of possibilities for Kolby. He told me he wanted to have Kaitlyn come over and to have another girl from church, Brooke, come over to play, and that he wanted Kaitlyn and Brooke to come over at the same time sometime. Pretty cute. He's getting so big!

Kolby’s Birthday!
So, we had a little celebration in the morning on Halloween for Kolby’s birthday, since he is having his birthday party this Friday. He and I went out and he picked out a special birthday breakfast, and then he opened his gift – a set of Book of Mormon figurines – that he and the boys played with afterwards.
