Accident-Prone

Well, I guess I’m becoming accident-prone. This week my grandma got out her little staple gun so that we could staple a cord back onto the wall that had come loose in the boys’ room. I picked up the staple gun and looked in the end to see if it had staples in it. I didn’t see any, so I tried to figure out how to open it to put more staples in. As soon as I pressed down on the handle, I knew I had made a mistake, and I removed my hand to see a big staple stapled all the way into my palm. I pulled it out right away (I wasn’t going to pay another $230 to go to the urgent care and have them remove something for me). Apparently I looked into the wrong end of the staple gun to see if it was empty, and had I looked into the other end (where my hand was) I would have seen that it was not empty. I can now tell you from experience that shooting a staple into the palm of your hand is more painful than having a piece of chord from a weed whacker shoot off into your leg. My hand is still a little sore, but is starting to feel better now, a couple days later (I could move all my fingers all right, so figured my hand would be ok). Anyways, I hope that these accidents don’t continue and form a pattern. In fact, I wouldn’t mind going for quite a while before anything else got shot into my skin (except the epidural when I have this baby – that’s one shot that I definitely don’t mind). :)

I also vote that no more foreign objects embed themselves in your skin. Yikes! That sounds like it hurt!
