Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to everyone. We had a wonderful musical program today at church celebrating the victory of Christ’s resurrection over death and the grave. I got to sing with the choir and we sang some beautiful music. We had a diner and practice last night over at the church to get everything ready for today’s program, and I think it turned out beautiful. How grateful I am to my Savior for making it possible to return to live with Him and my Heavenly Father. On a day where much of the media promotes the happiness that comes from the Easter Bunny and candy, it is reassuring to know of the lasting happiness that comes from following Jesus Christ and His gospel. Our lesson in Sunday school was also very appropriate for today, focusing on the things we need to do to follow Christ and His gospel, including faith, repentance, baptism, receiving the Holy Ghost, and enduring faithfully to the end of our life.

So as was alluded to in the previous post, this has been a wonderful week due to the fact that we found out where we will be for the next 4 years – Salt Lake City for the first year and then Rochester, New York for the next three. Steph and I were so nervous going into Thursday morning – neither of us slept well the night before, and I couldn’t hold still as I was waiting for my name to be read. It was one of the greatest feelings when I opened that envelope and saw that we had matched into dermatology – that the last four years have been worth this big goal that we were trying for. We got free lunch at an old pizzeria downtown and then we went out to dinner at Habañeros that night to celebrate, finishing the night with some friends over for games.

The rest of the weekend has been a huge sigh of relief as I continue to think about and be amazed by how blessed me and my family are and how the Lord continues to make our life wonderful. Thanks to everyone who kept us in your thoughts and prayers for the last several months.

My mind is in a blur as to what else happened this week. Steph had a Relief Society Enrichment activity on Tuesday night to celebrate the birthday of the Relief Society. I had volunteered to help with babysitting, so all of us went over to the church and I got to play with the kids while Steph enjoyed her activity.

Wednesday night I got to see Kolby and Eli in their swim classes and then got to swim with them afterwards – we had so much fun together, and they really love the water.

On Friday, which was supposed to be the second day of spring, at least anywhere but in Wisconsin, we had a huge snowstorm that brought about 14 inches of snow in a 24-hour period. Just as we were able to see the grass, it is covered again – I guess winter doesn’t want to let go yet.

Yesterday we took the boys to a used bookstore and found some fun books to give them today for Easter. We figured that would be better for them than a lot of chocolate and candy.
