Physical Therapy

This afternoon I went for my first physical therapy appointment for my knee. She said that my knee pain probably has something to do with the fact that I’ve had so many kids really close together – I have had all the extra movement, getting up and down from the ground a lot, and lifting kids that comes with having a baby – but since the kids are all so close together I haven’t really had time in between for my body really rest and get back to “normal.” And she also pointed out that I was sitting with my knees kind of bent inwards while I was talking to her, and she said that it should make a big difference if I pay attention to that and make sure that I always have my knees directly above my feet while I am sitting or standing. And when I told her that I often pick up Camden and hold him in my right arm, she said that may be one reason that my right leg is stronger and I am only having problems with my left knee and leg.

So, she showed me four different stretching and strengthening exercises that I need to do twice a day. I am scheduled to meet with her once a week for the next 7 weeks, but she said that if the exercises help improve the pain, then I won’t need to continue going for the whole time. So, hopefully this will be something that can be fixed quickly and I can get back to normal soon.
