Goodbye, Chase

We have had Chase, our pet chinchilla, since shortly after we moved here to Milwaukee and Kolby was only about nine months old. Chase really was the perfect pet for us – quiet, didn’t take up much space, low maintenance, cute, and very friendly. But Michael and I decided that with the time demands of his rotation schedule and soon-to-be four children under the age of 4 years old to take care of, Chase deserved to live with owners who could give him more attention. We asked a few friends if they wanted him, but none were able to take him. So I posted him for sale on craigslist.com and a family came to pick him up tonight. They have a little girl and have been looking for a good pet, so they should be a good family for him. Kolby was a little sad to see Chase go, but he and Eli were very helpful with showing the new little girl everything she needed to know about how to take care of Chase. And Kolby and Eli both got to hold Chase and say goodbye to him as many times as they wanted to before he left. Maybe we will get another pet someday – once we don’t have so many little human mouths to feed and messes to clean up after. :)
